Which of these two offer more efficient and effective overall protection when running resident on XP -- Emsisoft Anti-Malware or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

And which is easier on system resources and more compatible with Avast AV Free?

First question is A vs B, which is not allowed

but personally i would install both of them as they are stalwarts in their own rights and have no compatibility issues with any resident real time scanner like Avast :)

i will vote for emsisoft for its proactive protection(behabiour blocker)and it huge database and user comunity, but also mbam pro is so famous for its removal capability and it's strengh in malware blocking avility;) but personally i think that emsisoft is more cpu friendly in my case and also ram usage is very low;) but mbam is also very popular:)

I don't think you could got wrong with either one or both. Completely agree with the above posts. I'm loyal to MBAM, but Emisoft is who I turn to for portable on-demand scanning (clairify: not on my own system :)).

Emsisoft AM is meant to be a more comprehensive security solution, where Malwarebytes is meant to be supplementary. So it depends on what you're looking for, really.

IMHO EAM is the only comprehensive protection of the two.

Exactly. MBAM (especially the PRO version) is meant as a complementary product, only kicking in if your resident anti-malware program misses the threat.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware running with Avast? Seems like more than you'd need unless you are doing something particularly risky. It might be more efficient to lower the risks than run redundant protection.

I use Avast Free and MalwareBytes AntiMalware Paid, both with real time protection enabled.

What effect would Emsisoft AntiMalware have on a system if I used all 3 real time.

Can Emsisoft AM work well with Avast being on Real Time?

Should I get Emisisoft AM as its a more comprehensive protection compared to MalwareBytes AntiMalware Paid.

I also use HitMan Pro and SuperAntiSpyware but only on Demand (No Real Time).

I don't think you will experience any problem but running so many real time engines is just USELESS, you are only slowing down your system for no benefit at all. :D

EAM is not just an antimalware, they started that way but its now a full AV solution so there's no real comparison here.
oh and therefore the answer is EAM :)

So would the best idea be to remove Avast and instead install EAM to act as my main Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware with Malware Bytes there to assist when needed?

Just my opinion, the AV choice isn't as important as figuring out where you are vulnerable, which probably depends mainly on how you use the internet and what you load onto your computer. Once you figure that out change habits and cover risks.

Either Avast or EAM, flip a coin or try them one at a time with MBAM and see which you like on your computer. And then think about other layers to go with what you have that will fit with how you use the computer.
