I have to say that from my point of view, it doesn't make much sense to run a daily quick scan if you have the realtime protection enabled all the time.

When a new trojan, bot, etc. arrives on your PC, it's immediately detected by the signature based file guard or if it's brand new, by the behavior blocker.

If both didn't detect it, the quick scan wouldn't help anything too. ;)

I run the Smart Scan same day with versions 5.1 and 6. From what I recall, 5.1 took ca. 45 min to finish it, 6 done it in 17 min. It looks like it' really related to your PC configuration.

    My thoughts exactly :D

Also try a second and third scan please. You should see another significant decrease in scan time then. :)

Would that be because of the caching?

Yes. The scans get faster by time. Anti-Malware uses reputation data to avoid multiple scans of known good files.

That will prevent regular users from false positives too.

Yes, now everything is running smoothly and efficiently. :thumb:

For the life of me I have no idea where the conflict arose with the beta since I have no issues with 5.1 running with my other security apps (listed in my sig) and all are "excluded" from one another.

I'm sure something got corrupted somewhere, however, since even after I removed the beta from my system the system continued to exhibit very poor performance and sluggish response.

I am now sold on imaging big time. I'd have been lost without it.

And none of this is meant to point a finger at Emsisoft. I am a big fan of OA and EAM. Stuff just happens sometimes (unfortunately).

Running 6.0.0.30 Beta, installed through the Beta update in 5.1. It was a little confusing as I thought the uninstall of 5.1 would be automatic. I was presented with a popup screen asking if I wanted to uninstall 5.1. The first time I answered no which then gave error messages on the install of 6.0. The second time I answered yes and uninstall 5.1/install 6.0 went smoothly. Scan time (quick scan) seemed faster. I thought I had lost my previous settings, but after reboot they were back. Overall running very smoothly and no conflicts thus far with the programs in my signature on Windows 7 Home Premium x86.

The only problem I have encountered as when I enter my license code it does not accept it so I am running 30-day trail. Anyone know how to fix this?

Did come across one issue, DefenseWall flags four of EAM 6.0 program files as untrusted. I sent this to Ilya so it is resolved before public release of EAM 6.

About the license issue, i just noticed why it happens LOL
Since i purchased a multi activation license (3 Activations on 1 license) everytime i format my pc i tend to cross activate the licenses (Activations the same one twice) and that caused the problems :D

Thanks Noob. I checked and I had 45 days on my license, if I run the trial it will be close enough to buy a new one. I am only using the 1 license on 1 machine.

Version 6.0.0.31 is now available through the online update.

    Changes from 6.0.0.28 to 6.0.0.31:
    • License renewal links are now displayed 90 days before a license is about to expired instead of 45 days.
    • The a2user.dat read error has been fixed.
    • When pausing a scan the scan animation is now paused as well.
    • A memory leak has been fixed when combining the Rootkit scan with other scan types.
    • The "Cancel" button inside the "Action on scan end" dialog is now working as expected.
    • NTFS reparse points weren't handled correctly in all cases which caused files in certain directories to be scanned multiple times.
    • Whitelisting detection names is now working correctly again.
    • Emsisoft Anti-Malware for Servers licenses are now recognized and handled correctly.
    • The confirmation dialog when aborting the wizard is now always displayed correctly.

    Hey! Fabian Wosar

Their were 2 issues i found from "languy99" recent video review about Emsisoft 6.0 BETA.
    (link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxmj2DE-J30)

    1. Emsisoft 6.0 BETA did not turn off windows defender automatically (at around 5:34 of the video)

    2. Behavior blocker grammar mistake (10:47 of the video), it says:

Program tries to download invisibly data from the internet
    and it should be
Program tries to download data invisibly from the internet

    Regards,
    Dark Lord

Why would it turn of Windows Defender if it is perfectly compatible with Windows Defender? There are more products which leave Windows Defender enabled, such as ESET.

    .

    Fabian:)

    FWIW:

"download invisibly" in English grammar is what is called a split-infinitive and is considered to be bad grammar. The proper English would say: "invisibly download." The adverb "invisibly" comes before the verb it modifies.

So the alert should read: "Program tries to invisibly download data from the internet."

I don't know why but updates take a long time. Today the update was 28MB. A file that size would normally take maybe 20 seconds, yet it took about 2 minutes? I have a 20Mbps connection so I don't know why it takes so long.
