Emsisoft is currently not able to scan the 'driver' dir in Windows\system32. When will they fix this? A lot of rootkits may reside in there.

the answer I got from Fabian :

so current file guard has no problem with it and...
Result for v6 with DDA enabled (Direct Disk Access) : I've got 403 of 403 files scanned ;)

Ok. But I use Online Armor++ v5 which includes version 5 of the EAM engine... the driver folder remains untouched by the scanner. I don't really care if it's been added to version 6, my paid software currently doesn't do its job properly.

yeah, I agree on that shadek, it should be able to do on demand scan properly

but as mentioned above, file guard is already done the job.
so in the mean time it still can properly protect that folder.

Yes, but my main concern is about how long it'll take Emsisoft to update the AV-engines in OA++ once EAM 6.0 is released. I might be stuck with a faulty on-demand scanner for a long time for all I know. I'll post about it at EAM's official forum; they need to be notified by more users. :)

EAM 6.0 will supposedly fix this problem when it's released. It'll shorten the scan time by A LOT.

    Seriously? Any betas out?

It's taking forever but I'm alright with that. It found a looooot of stuff with the "deep scan" that SUPERAntispyware didn't.

EAM is one of the best On Demand scanners out there (Not measuring by speed :D)

According to estimations EAM 6.0 On-Demand scanner will be up to 500% - 600% faster.
On Access will be more efficient too but not as much as On Demand of course :D

Damn. 5-6x faster would be nice. I don't really mind the wait, I've got time, but it's always nice to get scans done quickly and thoroughly.

Still, it's doing the job. I'm not really "infected" exactly so there's no rush.

    edit: 28% done >_>

    I tried v6 finally and yes, it's much better than v5 :D
The only reason I went back to v5 was that it's in closed beta, meaning it might not be stable , and I need stable system :)
Not that I've noticed any problems with v6 , it was up and running for more than 24hrs non-stop and everything was fine.

My question to you is : Are you running v6 the whole time, and if you are, have you experienced crashes or anything like that ?

I was running EAM v6 Beta for a few weeks. I noticed that windows explorer crashed a few times in the first few days and then my system stabilized.

its closed beta or did you not see that in previous posts before yours..lol

Yes. I'm running v6 the whole time
With the latest version 6.0.0.16 I've got one crash, causing EAM to stop running, while windows are not affected. Too bad I'm not able to reproduce it, so I can't report back as a bug.

For an early beta, I must say EAM v6 are very stable. Enough for my daily use on my only pc. At least it never make my system hang ;)

YMMV, I only use it for office work, movie, game (mostly steam), browsing.

    Thought so, thanks, I'll return to v6 now , v5 feels "lighter" after I've seen v6 , and that's no good :)

As for crashes, I don't mind if EAM suddenly stops running or explorer crashes , as long as there are no BSOD's ... I'll be happy

    Welcome back :D

Just give it a while, after the caching finished, it should feel lighter than v5
