On a daily basis, and without fail, the event log displays the following errors. Is this something I need to be concerned about? If so, any assistance in rectifying would be appreciated.

I have the latest version of Nod32 and using Outlook 2003 with Win XP.

    Thanks

Maybe a problem with permissions for the registry keys?

    Thanks Marcos,

Are you able to elaborate? I'm at a loss as to how to check for this!

    Thanks

In Windows XP, go to Start --> All Programs --> Accessories -- Command Prompt. Type in regedit and hit Enter. You will get a Windows Explorer type interface. On the folders at the left, go to My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Eset . Right-click on the "Eset" folder and choose Permissions.... Hit the Advanced... button.

In the Permissions tab, you should see a field with a bunch of entries. Be sure that the entry for SYSTEM looks like what I have circled. Put a check in the "Replace permission entries on all child objects..." box, and hit OK.

If the SYSTEM entry does not look like that, let me know.

    Thanks alglove

The "Replace permission entries on all child objects ......." box wasn't ticked.
I'll wait for the next event log set to be generated to see if it's fixed the problem.

    Once again thanks

    Hmmm,
I've checked the tick box for "Replace permission entries on all child objects...", but it won't stick! Each time I navigate back to the permissions window, the check box is shown unticked again!!

I get the following dialog when I check the box:

Needless to say, the EMON error in the Event Log continues to be generated.

    Hey, Teddles.

Ack, sorry! I should have told you that the checkbox is not supposed to stick. :ninja: That is, once you have "replaced" the permissions by clicking OK, it will revert to being unchecked. The message box you have posted is normal.

So EMON is still not working. Hmmmm. Perhaps the problem is something besides registry permissions. I will have to think about this.......
