    Hi Craig,

    Maybe MailWasher.
There is a free and a not-free Pro version, as far as I know.
It gives you also other security-possibilties ;)
I think that the non-Pro version can be used for only one mail-account and the Pro-version for more.
Here is a screenie from the Pro-version.

    Edit
Hmmm, I'm not sure whether there is still a free version available; sorry

Popcorn is free for one account, payware for more. Minimize it in your system tray, have it play a file when mail arrives. I guess you could use a jet engine sound if you are far away from the computer or sleeping. :D
I'm pretty sure nothing will pop up on your computer if you know what I mean.

Popcorn lets you know you have mail on your server and you can download what you want to keep after viewing.

    What about Poptray?
It's also free and lots of options. :)

@ Jan - Thanks, looks like the free version has gone by the wayside, not sure that it has a visual alert though.

@ Ron - yeah sound alert there seems to be plenty about.

@ Elder - not quite there.

    @ Duckel - start running, here I come :D

A bit confused about what you mean with this. PopTray can be used on as many accounts as you like. You can assign sound for every account (like for me it's Star Trek sound :D for my 5 accounts). You can choose the language, view mail on server and a lot more.
    Best of all it's Free.
If you want to buy one, you can check out SimpleCheck;)

Monty Pythons Flying Circus sounds a good idea. Someone would shout at you to switch it off if you cannot hear it yourself.

I use ePrompter, and it's free of course. ;) It will show a small colored circle in your systray with the number of new emails that have arrived and make either a chime tone or bass riff sound to notify you by audio. You can disable the audio too- the use of custom sounds are in the works for future versions. All in all a very useful freebie that i'm sure you'll like. http://www.eprompter.com

I think Blackspear needs something a little more noticable... like his screen to blow up

Why not get someone to make a little program for you, then it can be as specific as you want... almost.

I would read the eprompter license agreement before installing.

    Not my cup of tea.

I thought I had found it with agmail, however: its presence means that your computer is infected with SPAM tool Aureate Group Mail.

So that's not what I'm after.

Looking for something Visual that pops up on screen.

    I'll keep looking...

    Cheers :D
