The Ice Giants are coming! So, what we have today is sadly a negative review of elementary OS 0.4 Loki, with only the live session testing as a result of too many bugs and problems, covering look & feel, networking - Wireless, Bluetooth and no Samba sharing or printing, weak multimedia support, weak smartphone support, browser flickers and stalls, bad visual contrast, laptop overheating, slow responsiveness, app and system inconsistency, and more. Alas, not meant to be. http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/elementary-0-4-loki.html Cheers, Mrk
Tried it a couple of weeks ago, and very disappointed as well. The impossibility of customizing the desktop (at least I couldn't fint out how) was a major turn-off for me.
With eos, you'll have to replace the file manager to get the default min-max buttons back and install a lot of GNOME goodies to create a functional desktop. If you're not prepared to do the work of pimping eos after a live install, don't bother. If you're looking for a Mac OSX inspired desktop on Linux, Ubuntu Budgie is a solid choice and then there is the GNOME Shell Classic Session based LuninuxOS.
