    Hi kathdownes,

Before you start, please move hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
Now they will end up on your desktop.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll (file missing)

    O16 - DPF: {0733B8F9-8B52-4693-A9FA-829E12D27F78} (preload control) - http://www.thepaymentcentre.com/build/preload2.cab
    O16 - DPF: {1230CB21-C88D-11CF-B347-000000000000} - http://www.eingang69.de/EroticAccess/cabs/1808027.cab

Then reboot. Can you tell us where the file is found exactly? Full Path and filename please.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi kathdownes,

Create a folder on your desktop called HijackThis would be good. Then copy and paste hijackthis.exe into that one.

Your desktop is one big folder to Windows so all the backups would now get scattered over your desktop, which is probably not what you wanted.

    Regards,

    Pieter

No need for drastics yet, although I wonder how a trojan can be found in Restore Points when System Restore is off.

Anyway, go to Windows Update and install at least SP1 for IE and XP
Better get all the ones issued after that as well, but the Servicepack should be enough to repair the error.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    It's really no problem Kath.

It's the ones that think they know better and don't follow the instructions that are a real pain. ;)

It doesn't matter for the log whether you run HijackThis with or without. But I would run the virusscan before you enbale System Restore.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Good job. That's clean. :)

Now do the virusscan and if that is all clear too, you can turn on System Restore.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    HI Pieter

AVG dectected another strain of Dyfica. It's telling me i now have Dyfica BR and its in
    C:\holi2682807.exe

AVG is telling me to move it to the virus vault as it cannot be removed by healing.

    Shall i do this??
    Norton as not detected anything.

    Kath x

It certainly does not look like something you might ever need.
Let AVG have it for dinner. :)

Can you use the Disk Cleanup Utility to empty all your Temp folders as well?

    Regards,

    Pieter
