The ongoing problem with Scroogle being blocked could be influencing DuckDuckGo usage? : http://searchengineland.com/scroogle-says-google-is-blocking-their-privacy-search-engine-111643

It's a good bet. I think that a lot of people are worried about Google's new world order (un)privacy policies. I've spoken to a *shed-load of people online & off who are ditching GMail for GMX or Zoho because of these new policies. It wouldn't surprise me people are turning to DDG & Start Page/Ixquick as well.

*British slang = 'a lot of'

    I am using https://www.startpage.com/

What's the difference between Start Page and Duck Duck go?

I like start page because it uses Google search enginer enabling me to use the search options like
    site: +
    ""
    2011..2012
etc etc.. Does DuckDuckGo also do this?

Does DDG allow for a search within a certain time period like Google allows? With Google I can search the last hour, last 24 hours, last year, etc. And I can select a specific time range. This comes in handy when trying to avoid repetitive search results, or looking only for the newest results. The time period range helps when looking for older stories that can be buried in results.

    thanks for any info

I've just started using Qrobe https://qrobe.it/ I think it has better results than DDG. It scrapes Google and Bing, uses WOT and has all the privacy features. Here's a quote:
A good option if you find DDG's results lacking or you were using Scroogle.
