Was anyone aware of this? As an IE user, HTTPS Everywhere is an extension I miss, it's quite tempting to switch to DDG from Scroogle.

Have other people had positive experiences using DDG? Scroogle has a tendancy to "die" on occasion when Google make changes to their search which is really annoying. Has that ever happened with DDG?

I use DDG (SSL) as my default browser/homepage on Firefox & default on Chrome. In fact, in Fx if I type a search directly into the run bar I use DDG (SSL). I find it to be very good, quick & reliable. Furthermore it is a bit 'settings' customisable. I thoroughly recommend it.

What about Ixquick and its proxy option ? Anyone think this is a great search engine, or do you have misgivings ?

It works for me. Proxy option is a little slow but it's not always needed

I use Start Page as a back-up & it is my homepage on SeaMonkey. On Firefox I often have it set as the default search on the GUI search box.

i like it myself but i cant use it as my sold search engine which still goes to google since sonetimes i have had it give me some odd results and i like google's "shop" feature to quickly compare things from different resellers otherwise i would switch since i hate things tracking me. but out of all of them imo google is still king especially compared to bing i tried to like bing but just cant do it lol.. i use duck for most of all my normal browsing daily though or as much as i can.

Sounds really good Daveski17, I have Ixquick as 'backup' and I see that ..
    Will give it a try.

I am pretty sure that Ixquick, Start Page & Starting Page are all the same engine with different names. They are all SSL though.
