I hope someone can help ...

Each time I run Spybot it finds "DSO Exploit"and "CleverIEHooker.jeired". I fix both problems, but they always show up each time I run. I've also tried AdAware to fix the problem. It finds the jeired registry key, but cannot seem to get rid of it.

    Here's the Hijack this log:

    Thanks Dave38

Unfortunately, it didn't seem to get rid of the problems yet.

I followed your instructions, however I was not able to delete the TV Media file. I got an error message that said it was being used by another computer or user. I did everything else, re-ran SpyBot and DSO Exploit and CleverIEHooker.jeired still showed up. Here's the new Hijack this log

    Hi jpetey,

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\Program Files\TV Media <= entire folder

    Regards,

    Pieter

After the last post, I fixed these two entries with Hijack this.

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

I then removed TV Media in safe mode using the control panel and the cleverIEhooker.jeired bug is gone. However, the DSO exploit still shows up with spybot. Here's the lastest and greatest hiack this log. Any advice? Thanks

    jpetey,

If the DSO Exploit is the last issue you have, then don't worry about it. The new version of Spybot S&D (1.3) has a bug regarding that exploit... Basically, it can see the settings involved just fine, but it can't fix them.

If you are have the proper Microsoft patches installed (and you do since you have SP1 installed) you can just ignore the DSO Exploit warnings until the next Spybot update when they expect to have that bug fixed.

A lengthy thread about this is available on the Spybot forum, but really it boils down to be a minor bug:

Great ... thanks for the info LWM. I'll get rid of it when the new version of Spybot is available. Thanks
