well, i dont wanna jinx it as dates are always a touchy topic especially here on wilders, but its expected this coming week.

however, all should know that it is an intermediate beta release and will not contain the GUI/control centre i posted i while back

well, it wont have everything, especially being a first beta.

plus, they have a 5.1 version planned too, so i really dont know how its going to go.

but, end of the day... its new things, and new things are always welcomed :)

I have to admit, this is likely the most anticipated beta of all. I have no doubt, Dr Web will surprise us all. I still say, in time, they will surpass Kaspersky. Keep it simple and very good.:thumb:

Love to get my hands on DrWeb5 !!
I really hope they have increased the detection and reduced the scan time.

Right now its hard to push for DrWeb deployment with most AV tests ( which they still participate in) showing abysmal detection and speed.

All those "promised" features will be in the final v5, as mentioned previously. Plus, they've updated their current engine many times but those were smaller updates. This is supposed to be a bigger improvement

I'm not surprised. I have the feeling that the engine itself was fully functional in the labs for quite a long while now. As to why the other components are taking so much time, it is anyone's guess (which means I do not know).

The encrypted quarantine will come "eventually" - it appears not to be one of the priorities.

sure, its an intermediate beta release, but there are some plus points inside it.

    http scanner
    encrypted quarantine
    new engine
    parental control
    self defense

i hope the GUI will arrive for release, and also the faster scanner hopefully for release, thats my hopes.

HIPS will arrive most likely for 5.1

just if's and buts, but the above list is in the first beta.
