lol, very creative i suppose. :doubt:

the designer didnt even want to use a spider at all, icon or gui.

but i dont think the majority will stand for that, or the customers.

they should get a selection of tray icons and ask the public, nobody has ever done that :D

Would the tray animation effect the number of customers?
    I think it would.

probably not, do you want drweb to be kaspersky, adding spinning eyeballs for on-access scanning, a flashing spider belly for email scanning and a spiders web that extends from the little spider for a detected and cured threat? :D

drweb's modules will all be created in-house, such as the firewall, hips and parental control. etc etc.

the only thing inside drweb, that was not created in house was the spam technology, as this is based on Vade-Rectro technology.

im glad drweb have chosen to keep it all in-house for the new modules, and im sure they are working hard to perfect each one.

lots of new stuff for this version, so yes.. its taking a long time, especially as drweb take testing seriously before releasing products. ;)

enjoy the screenshots, im sure more information will be added (whenever), and probably to this exact thread. :D

    peace.

Hmm, do you know when it will be out for public alpha/beta testing?

I don't think so. The parental control will be probably licensed from another company, as they did with the antispam module. Why reinvent the wheel?

I surely hope they keep features optionial. I'm thinking about e.g. parental control  , application guard and http scanning

Instead of these, give me back my spider.

I think some screenshots of the future, have everyone thinking in relative terms of very near. When in reality the proper thought would be very, very, far.

It's a scary thought to think that people who choose the look of an icon over functionality and effectiveness are turned loose on the net without direct custodial supervision... yeesh :doubt:

Why not? It's their money, and they're harming nobody but themselves.

Though I see some parties seem more than eager to play the role of thought custodian.

Hey it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it. No need to be snippy Skippy... that was something called humor... joking around... and, by the way, aren't you playing thought custodian yourself by criticizing my thoughts? Hmmmmm  Think about it...

Yes, as the discussion is about alpha version. Why would they announce anything of v5 officially when everything is still somewhat uncertain regarding features, release dates, the gui, etc.

Nice to see some info from the Dr, for there customers.Very nice Gui. I would like to see the spider embodied on to the shield for the tray icon. That would look great.

Sorry for the diggup! Dr.Web is an antivirus + antispyware program, so it should be shown as such in Vista's Security Center!

Currently it is being shown only as antivirus and ok it doesn't matter of course, but thought I could make this little suggestion :)
