I ask because the crc32's and md5's appear to be the same.

The drweb i downloaded from the drweb.com site on aug 22nd and the drweb version i just recently downloaded from dials.ru.

Has anyone found a site you can actually purchase Dr Web?
Found a few, but when you click on them they don't work.

    Must still be rebuilding.

Their servers or/and web sites are in a mess at the present time.

Links are dead, some information is incorrect ( they had the total number of virus records at 9,000 the other day!) and the updater is not working again this morning.

I hope they will get their act together soon :( :'(

I updated just fine this morning.

Last night most all DRW servers seemed to be down &/or extremely stressed. Those problems MIGHT have been the result of having their bandwidth flooded due to dos attack or such. They seem okay today.

DRW makes an excellent AV but it is readily apparent that they are not skilled as communicators. *puppy*

bellgamin, your right they seem OK today.
But....to place an order or renew a key, none of the sites are in English.

Mabe they have given up on the USA market.

Their USA reseller; http://www.advancedforce.com/ dropped Dr Web because they wanted to concentrate on network solutions, and most of their normal Element 5 purchase links are down; http://www.dials.ru/english/commerce/

But you can presently purchase from here; http://www.drweb-online.com/en/order.asp

They obviously concentrate on their home Russian market, where their main opposition is Kaspersky. Hopefully they will find an overseas English Language Reseller.

I sent our friend, Boris {a DRW CEO}, a message pointing out their urgent need for an online store. I even sent him a link to Kaspersky's excellent store, so he could see how the competition does it.

Right now, their online sales page is 99.9% in Russian.

I read & speak all languages very well, EXCEPT Greek. Unfortunately, Russian is Greek to me. o_O :'( :D

    To everyone from Firefighter!

My updates are basicly OK, but these 11 win32 viruses are not detected yet by DrWeb 4.32 but were able to detect before with the version 4.31b.

I sent an email to Mike asking about a reseller in the USA.
I bought my current license from Advanced Force last Dec.
As Blackcat pointed out, that company dropped Dr.Web.

I'll Check RegNow and a few other online resellers to check for availability.
I remember seeing Dr.Web listed at a site that last year.

How much is DR WEB--i saw it listed at 30$ then 40$ for updates?

Which price is it-----ill pay 30$ but not 40$---to many programs to buy under 30$.

The only reason i wanted dr web is for the low resources that it uses and also there outstanding database for nasties

    thx

Perhaps you refer to the prices at...
    http://www.drweb-online.com/en/order.asp

If so, those prices are Euros -- not dollars. For a home license of DRW, the price at that site is 30 Euro, which is ~$36.26700 US Dollars. That's still a good price for an excellent AV, which is what DRW is.

Since you say that you want a great AV under $30 that is easy on resources, I suggest F-prot. It's $29 USD, & gives VERY good protection.

That is quite strange. Maybe they did some cleanup on virii that they feel no longer poses an itw threat? Or were they detected by heuristics in 4.31b? Have you contacted anyone from DrWeb or submitted the files?

False positives on my computer have DRAMATICALLY dropped for me with 4.32. Update problems again tonight too. :p

    Im using f-prot right now

f-prot i consider a very good light resource program. But not as good as dr web from what i read.I have 3 mons left on my kaspersky 4.5 -- i run as backup scanner--wierd thing is that f-prot flagged about 7 files in kaspersky with the real time scanner as trojans--i assume it was reading its sig file as a trojan.I don't understand when f-prot real time scanner flags something does that mean they are deleted?--i don't see anyway to tell on the realtime scanner

---is there a need to leave fpavupdm.exe running? It's suppose to be a service for monitoring F-prot antivirus signatures files--but it seems to use around 5 mgs of memory with defeats my purpose for very low resource usage.

    thanks very much

sorta got away from what the thread was about -sorry

It is $29 for an annual license from here; http://www.dials.ru/english/commerce with a renewal price of $20. But this site is down for me at the present time.

Another reseller site; http://www.drweb-online.com/en/order_drweb.asp is more expensive at $36 for the annual license!!!

Their main sites are still busy/down for me at the same time every day and the purchase links were dead as of yesterday. Maybe they are dropping Element 5 ? Therefore you cannot buy the 'cheaper' version as yet. Hopefully well before your trial period finishes, this should all be sorted out!

At least Mike Kolyadko seems very efficient as he has just sent me back 3 emails within the last 24 hours with all of my questions answered fully.

The main help-file is being added to as of now and released quite soon. In the mean time there are mini-help files associated with the on-demand Scanner when you right-click an option. For example, click on heuristic analysis on the scan options menu. However, these detached help-files are not as yet present in the SpiderGuard settings.

    Overall I think we are seeing the problems associated with a relatively SMALL AV company who are obviously concentrating on their home market. Further, it is not helped by there being 2 distinct factions within Dr Web;

    1. Doctor Web Limited- whose official site of Dr Web is www.drweb.com.

    2. Dialogue Science Inc- whose main site is www.dials.ru

    To rerun2 from Firefighter!

You were right. All those files that were detected by DrWeb 4.31b but missed by 4.32, were detected by 4.31b HEURISTICS. Very strange, the new IMPROVED heuristics engine against Win32 viruses is actually weaker than it was with 4.31b!

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

Let them know of your results. Sending them to Mike Kolyadkdo at mike@drweb.com or mike.kolyadko@drweb.com may be the best option.

Maybe they have intentionally removed these 'old' viruses from the database.

    i. DrWeb 4.32 still can't check inside archives zipped with 64K sliding window.
ii. i'm getting connection failure between SpIDer and DrWeb control server in my ME machine.

i hope the second problem is only with me. anyone checked the SpIDer under NT platform?

the connection problem i'm having is with local control server not the update server. after this though SpIDer is loaded i don't have real-time protection. also i'm curious to know if SpIDer has full capability under NT platform just like 9x platform. i hope this new version brings some hope.
