My laptop came with Vista preinstalled so I can't make a Bart PE bootdisk. Can a Bart PE boot disk made from XP be used to restore from Drive Snapshot?

    Thanks

Why not ? The Pe disk is separate from your OS...It's a cripped OS in itself.

Give bartPE the drivers for your SATA controller, and you should be good to go, even using XP. For instance Macrium has a bartPE plugin. If the bartPE can access your drives (thus the need for current SATA drivers) it does not matter what OS in installed on the drive to be imaged. Only that bartPE can interface to the drive to be imaged and the drive that contains the image to use.
