OK, I understand... what you do not understand, you criticize. ;)

I vote for ShadowProtect v2 and will buy it soon.

    BACKUP is possible for
    1. System partition [C:] via Windows or Recovery CD (only if changed)
    2. Data partition [D:] via Windows or Recovery CD (daily)

    RESTORE is possible for
    1. System partition [C:] via Recovery CD only (occassionally)
    2. Data partition [D:] via Windows or Recovery CD (occassionally)

So I only need that slow loading Recovery CD (3m30s) for restoring my system partition [C:]

Backup/Restore is almost 3 times faster than ATI via Windows or Linux Recovery CD.
ShadowProtect had the fastest backup of all Image Backup software I tried.
I wouldn't recommend ShadowProtect to less-knowledgeable users though.

I am with you Erik. It is a solid product now and if version 3 comes through with at least some practical features that make it either easier to use or even more powerful, then I will stay with it because I see nothing speedier or more compatible with my laptop.
