On Windows I used to use version 5.0.5 as I remember because version 6 was very heavy for my system.

Is this new version any better?

I use Foxit Reader: stable and fast. Some users report incorrect rendering on certain documents
There is a tool for customizing the Adobe Reader

Just downloaded Foxit Reader. I've NEVER heard of this program before. Just a few quick questions:

    1) Should I uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0 now that I have this program?

    2) Is this ONLY compatible for the FireFox browser, or is it a standalone program?

    3) Is it recommended to install the Adobe Reader SpeedUp application as mentioned above by lucas1985?

    Thanks.

    1) You can keep Adobe Acrobat
    2) It´s a standalone PDF reader
    3) That app. is for speeding up Adobe Acrobat Reader. It removes the unnecessary plug-ins during the load of Acrobat Reader. This way, Acrobat speeds up a lot

an alternative to having Adobe reader and Adobe Reader SpeedUp, is to use Adobe Reader Lite. it already has several plugins removed and thus the installer is smaller.

i havent tried it as i use foxit, but id like to hear any feedback.
