My hard drives are hooked up to a Ultra ATA/100 PCI Adapter Card. Will I be able to make an image of drive C onto drive D through this adapter card? The manufacturer of this adpater card is Maxtor.

Are you using the driver provided by the manufacturer or the one that was installed with Windows?

I see. Maybe that's what my problem is. I just did a fresh XP install not too long ago and windows did all the driver installation. But from what I read I need to attach my drives to the motherboard and install them before connecting the adapter card. I don't think I can upgrade them now when in use.

    The normal procedure is:
    1. Install card with NO drives attached.
    2. Boot into windows & install driver for controller card.
    3. Power down PC, attach drives to controller card.
    4. Re-boot into windows & you should be up & flying.
