I've installed a few programs since buying eset and I have "interactive" mode turned on in the firewall settings. Occasionally when installing a program it prompts me that said program is trying to connect to a host or remote computer. Does the same when I run the programs. Reason I ask is because I selected deny on one of the programs and it stopped working. It will still start up but prompts me to allow it to connect to host or remote computer. I have no problem allowing it, just wanted to know if ESET was asking permission to allow programs to phone home?

If you're running in Interactive Mode all connections that does not have a specific rule will be prompted.

What software are you using? Phone-home is usually a bad thing if the software tries to spy on your behaviour etc but many software requires and active Internet-connection
