I don't see where I'd ever have a use for one. A friend got one for Christmas. I played with it for maybe 5 minutes. That was more than enough to make my decision.
My wife bought me an iPad air because she knows that I love to play "a certain Farm" game (not sure if I am allowed to use names), and I always played it on my iPhone, but I always complained that the screen was so tiny, and thus one day she came home (to my total surprise) with this iPad. But for other things like composing emails, browsing etc etc I still (prefer) to use my Computer.
i don't have one and don't intend to get one in the foreseeable future but you never know... the only use i can personally see for them is when one is travelling. since i don't travel, my need for tablets is none. women carry them more than men because they have purses and bags they can stuff it into. i admit they are cool devices though.
Not now and a big maybe for the future. In their current form I find them pretty useless but that may change as they advance.
I'm travelling right now, and it's indeed useful for that. I carry my 7.9-incher in my jacket pocket. Will try stuffing it in sweaters back home.
I have nexus 7 and 10 and find them useful.A lot of the useability imo is getting the right apps as some just arent that good.I can do my online banking ,emailing, posting at forums with them.I also like thier portability.I personally dont know anyone who has bought a new laptop battery when it eventually bites the dust,so the alternative for me would be to run an extension cable and plug in my laptop.I never used to mind that but a tablet is so much easier...in fact the laptops been gathering dust. The only thing i do on the laptop these days is use it to backup the nexus with the brilliant nexus root toolkit ,so i can play with different kernels for the tablets.
Kindle Touch. Buying books is a waste of space, specially when you live abroad in a rented apartment.
It's much cheaper to buy a laptop battery than buy a brand name tablet, and you can do so much more on a laptop. Right now I've got 30 tabs open in my browser, which may same like a lot, but for me it's not. Often I have over 50 tabs open, and whenever I reboot, the next time I open my browser it opens all my previously opened tabs. My point is that for web browsing a computer is much better than a tablet. While I guess you could have tens of tabs open in a browser on a tablet, I'm sure that it would not be handled as well as on a PC. Plus, using a touchscreen keyboard cant compare to using a real keyboard. On top of that you have the pathetically small screen sizes that 99% of tablets have. Why would I even want to look at websites on a 10" or smaller tablet when the smallest screen size I would ever use on a laptop is 14". So, at least for me, tablets can not replace an actual PC. Sure, they have their use for apps and gaming, but even then, playing Dead Trigger seems awkward on a tablet, even though it is a game designed for use on Android devices.
Never ever ever ever. Screen too small. Plus, if my shoes are dirty, I cannot put them on a tablet whereas I can do that with my newspaper. Also, I need a keyboard (NOT a virtual one).
Well, I still use a REX-5000 (or: Xircom-5000). Wearable information, you know. Fits into my jeans sidepocket. And I got five spare ones, incl. docking stations. Will last for the next few decades, considering my current REX was made in 1996...
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 - the 8" model. Love it for packing on short trips, when only e-mail, web and forums are needed. Getting 9 hours of battery life with medium usage.
Lol, so you were using one all along, or something very similar. And a very small one at that... Is that why you want bigger screens?
I would consider using a Windows 8 tablet but an android tablet probably offers little more than what I already have with my smart phone.
I use boat browser on both my tablets and it can open 50 tabs, and restore them. The tabs are scrolled sideways to view those that are off the screen.I also havent the best eyesight, but there are plenty of options to enlarge text or pics using browser or system settings .I find the 10in nexus to be plenty big enough.I also have dead trigger and other games and don't find it awkward after getting used to the controls, although personally I think games are better on a pstation or Xbox piped into a large screened TV anyway. If it were possible I'd try one for a week or so,get some decent apps and then compare again
Just acquired a Nexus 7 2013. Once I had survived the system update and charging the thing in the first place, I think it's pretty amazing. The novelty may wear off of course ...
That's a good question lol! It's fast and convenient, has plenty of apps and quite portable. I can surf the Net relatively effortlessly and also read ebooks on it. I think it is its size that really impresses me though. So small yet so capable. The virtual keyboard is very intuitive and easy to use with one hand. I can see why tablets are so popular now.
Ah I see. It's clear that you're quite satisfied. So you got the Wifi version? How do you like the display? Is it as good as Google says, the sharpest?
Well I've only got 26 open right now I have a bad habit of opening tabs and not closing them. But for pages I visit regularly I leave the tabs open. For example, I always have my email and Wilders and AliExpress open. My browser (Sleipnir) keeps track of what I have open, and if I reboot, next time I open it, it restores all my previous tabs. Every now and then I add some of the open pages to my bookmarks, and then close them so I don't have too many tabs open. Sleipnir handles having lots of tabs open much better than other browsers.
