I recently switched from Zonealarm Internet Security Suite because It was crashing and sometimes taking my pc with it while running Utorrent. I am very pleased so far with Nod 32 but I was wondering; do I need to run a separate firewall and if so, can anyone recommend a good one?

Comodo is a pro firewall and free, and it's really good!

You must run a firewall unless you want a hacker to visit you :p NOD32 is an nti-threat system (to protect against viruses/spywate/all kind of malicious code) but it cannot keep intruders out

I run NOD and Outpost the latter mostly for the outbound protection as I'm behind a hardware Firewall. They play nicely together.

There is no Vista version of Outpost but its in Beta so it won't be long. Comodo is also not Vista compliant.

I always insist on any/all PCs that I support be behind a router that does NAT. I don't wish to support PCs which have a public IP address.

yeolde - do you know of any ISPs still offering card-modems for broadband access? I thought most have been broken of that ridiculous behavior...

Such as Sierra cards? Yes..they are quite abundant. AT&T, Verizon, etc.

Yeolde, I am connected to a router (2wire gateway 2700HG_B). I use Peer Guardian firewall when I am downloading/uploading on p2p networks, but I'm wondering if I need to install a full time firewall?

Since you are using NOD you could try the ESS beta. If you prefer to not to use beta software, it should be out of beta soon.

OK, so you'd like a second firewall since you're already behind a NAT router. Well...using P2P programs...you probably aren't too concerned about security too much..as they are pretty much guaranteed to infest your PC no matter what you run...but Comodo is a great software firewall.
