    Hi,

I'm having problem with moving/copying my C: partition.

    Here's my situation:
I just purchased a new larger hard drive for my computer.
To avoid re-installation, I thought I can simply copy the whole partition with Disk Director to the new drive.
    But that didn't work.

    Here's what I did:
I made the Disk Director's boot CD (Rescue Media) and use it to boot the computer.
I did partition copy from the old to the new.
I turned off the computer and removed the old hard drive.
Turned on the computer to boot.
The boot process stuck right after BIOS initialization.

My hard drives are both IDE SATA, only one NTFS partition.

    Please help, thank you.

This probably isn't working because a blank new hard drive doesn't have a Master Boot Record (MBR). So when you start your PC and the BIOS searches your hard drive's first sector for the MBR, it won't find anything and will hang up.

To fix, unplug the old drive from the PC and have only the new drive connected. Get your Windows CD and boot the PC from it. When you get the choice, choose to start the Recovery Console. You will need to type the Administrator password to gain access to your Windows installation. Then type the following command:
    Code:
    fixmbr
You can find more detail on Microsoft's web site.
