    Re: OS Selector 9 and MBR ERR 3 during boot

    Hello suffix,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Director Suite (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/).

    We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

    Please fix MBR in the following way:

    Please use the following ISO image to create a special CD:

    http://www.acronis.com/files/support/mbrautowrite_en.iso

    You can read how to record a CD with an ISO image at the following links:

    http://trb.org/publications/burning_iso.html
    (Nero Burning ROM and Roxio Easy CD Creator)

    http://members.home.nl/lsnoek/iso.htm
    http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm
    (other applications)

    Once the CD is written, boot the computer from it and confirm that you want to fix the master boot record.

    If this doesn't help please contact our Support Team via e-mail support@acronis.com.

    Thank you.

    I get the same error. Is this fix anything different than boot into Windows recovery console and using the fixmbr command? I have done that numerous times only to continue to get the mbr error 3 after reenabling OS selector.

    Hello hoser_d,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Director Suite (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/).

    Yes, this is the same procedure as fixmbr (though it seems to be easier to perform).

    Please do the following:

    - Fix MBR once again either with the help of your Windows Installation Disk or with one of the ways mentioned above (using Acronis tools);
    - Disable "Boot virus detection" option (or something like this - dependently on your BIOS) in BIOS;
    - Enable Acronis OS Selector if needed.

    This should solve the problem.

    Thank you.

    Unfortuneately, my BIOS does not have anything in it that deals with "boot virus detection" so there is nothing to disable.

    Hello hoser_d,

    Please send a letter to support@acronis.com with the link to this thread and attach two Acronis Reports: before you enable Acronis OS Selector and after that. To create Acronis Report please download special utility available at http://www.acronis.com/files/support/AcronisReport.exe and run it. Please include the link to this thread into your letter.

    Thank you.
