disk defragmenter?

    An easy way to see the benefits of defragmentation is to notice the improvements in running a full system backup with most any backup software.
    The backup should run much faster if the source and/or destination drives have been defragged.

    Also you should notice how a little bit of fragmentation makes no performance difference

    Some backup programs (I won't name names) do an awful job, even when creating a fresh backup set on an empty drive. Makes a big difference.

    hey guys, wow, I am learning a lot from this thread.

    however, with the risk of changing the direction of this discussion a bit, why does the amount of free space decrease after you defragment your drive? I would expect it to decrease the amount of used space. :doubt:

    Google is not being my friend in this case. :) I am using diskeeper lite. thx.
