DirectX9 updating

    hello: i am wondering how i should update my directX with PG running? should i shut down PG while installing the dx9 upgrade? do i need to do anything at all? is it ok to use the default PG settings for my directX? as usual, thanks in advance for the input...ns51

    Hi Northstar51, I usually download the update then disable Process Guard for major updates.

    If you download the update or run it from CD then you could also disconnect from the Internet then disable PG. Remember to re-enable after the re-boot ;)

    Usually with winupdate the actual install takes place on reboot so it probably would not matter if PG was running but you may then get a few Secure desktop warnings of changed .exe's.

    No problems here when I updated to DirectX 9
