    Hello everyone,

How do I know if Eset received a virus sample that I sent?
I sent it on Thursday, April 30, 2008.
    I sent it to samples@eset.com.
Is there a way I can check to see if they received it, if and when it may be added to their database?

    Thank you,
    Danny

They will if they feel and if it is necessary, that's all I can say.

    Hello ,

Did you submit your sample as described in the following Knowledgebase article:
    http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN141

They receive daily submissions of virus samples and false positive samples. They then evaluate the samples. Please allow for a couple of days to see the sample included in an update and make sure that your product is kept up to date.

Customer samples do assist in making the best possible product for our users.

    Thank you,
    Richard

Rmuffler, thank you for the fast reply.
I did submit the sample as describe in the knowledgebase. The subject of the email I sent was "possible virus, fake security update for a bank. (componente-5.3.1.exe)‏". I included the actual email in which the link to the virus came from. My Nod32 information and the link to virus total showing the results from other antivirus software. I put it in a zip file, password protected.

It is a phishing email that links to a .exe that claims to be a security update for a large Brazilian bank. Hotmail is blocking the email as phishing. I uploaded it to virus total and noticed that nod32 wasn't detecting it, but others were. I didn't execute the file so I don't know if the advanced heuristics detects it. So I thought I would submit the file.

    Thanks for the help.
    Danny

support team don't reply when they receive the file !
    and that's really annoying
if you send a file to Kaspersky they will reply in 24 hours !

I dont want to criticize, but customer support is not wat I espected from ESET. I am a NOD32 user, I like the product, but Customer Service is poor.
Once, I asked ESET what is the best way to purchase a second license and if there is a discount. The answer came after a week and they told me to go and see the local dealer, the one I bought the first licence couple of years ago. In that week I needed an Antivirus, so I've installed Antivira Free, for my son computer.
Two other times I've sent to ESET samples (as per standard procedure, zipped, password protected...) with possible infections, detected by Office Scan once and by Superantispyware at home other time. I didn't get any news from them, no confirmation, no email, no feedback. To me this is disapponting, they look that they didn't care.

I must admit there was some time were ESET was slow in responding, but lately my emails have been responded to rather quickly in a matter of an hour or 2. I hope it stays that way ;)

    Hello everyone,

I just want to be clear that I am not complaining about Nod32. I only started this thread to know if Eset received my sample or not. An Eset moderator responded quickly. I followed the advice given to me. I consider my question to be answered/solved and thank everyone for the help they have given. I appreciate it.

    Thank you,
    Danny

I'm glad they answer so fast, and I hope ESET takes my criticism in a positive way.

Given that your issue is resolved as you say, We'll then bring this one to a close.
