Heuristic detection

 

I have one question.
When NOD32 detects something as probably unknown new HE-PE virus I know it's detected by heuristic but when NOD32 detects something as probably a variant of ... it means it was detected by heuristic or generic signatures? or NOD32 haven't generic signatures?

When it is just "a variant of " then it is not a heuristc detection but a generic sig
