device manager

    in the device manager under system devices two devices such as direct memory access controller and pci bus are marked in yellow and i
    am getting some messages that kernel.dll a device attached to it is not functioning are they related with each other ? running win98se

    The device drivers for them need to be updated or re-installed.

    If it still doesnt work after re-installing the device drivers, I think the kernel.dll needs to be replaced.
