Detection of Rootkit / Virus

    Hi guys,
    one question: i just wondered if rootkits are harder to detect as viruses / malware ?

    Not sure what you mean by as viruses / malware

    Rootkits are not the malware as such, just extra code/app that helps to try and hide/sleath the Actual nasty and itself. Some are more skilfully coded than others, especially these days, and are harder to detect than before, and more than just malware on their own.

    Hi,
    sorry if my english is a bit unclear.
    I understand what RKs are and do, so i know what you mean. I came to this question as we have special RK-detection tools like Gmer but rootkit-detection is also implemented as a "section" in the common AV-Scanners like e.g. Avira.

    However you already answered it. Thank you!
