    Alas, I violated a tenet of my religion, i.e., "Thou shalt not install demo software", by installin gthe demo for TI 9 yesterday.

    I thought that I had seen a statement (somewhere) that the demo for TI 9 was a fully functional product with a 15 day time limit.

    Are there any limitations?

    I noticed two:

    1. During the install, I was not able to choose whether to install optional components, such as Rescue Media Builder and Secure Zone. It is important for a demo to have exactly the same installation interface so one can eliminate articular options if they cause problems.

    2. I was not able to restore selected files. I was able to go thru the process of selecting thefiles, but when I told TI to proceed with the restore, the restore failed. Heck, if I cannot test restore, a demo is not useful. Does me no good to back up files if I cannot retrieve them.

    Hello Howard Kaikow,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please be aware that the only difference between the full and trial versions of Acronis True Image 9.0 except for the 15-days trial period is that you will not be able to create an image archive running the trial version of Acronis True Image 9.0 in bootable rescue mode (but you can still create an image archive in Windows).

    Actually, the free trial version of Acronis True Image 9.0 has no such limitation.

    Could you please find the build number by right-clicking on the free trial version installation file and looking into the Properties->Version tab?

    If the build number is different from 2323 then please re-download the free trial version of Acronis True Image 9.0 from our web site. It will be build 2323.

    Please uninstall any previously installed build prior to installing build 2323.

    If the problem problem still persist with the build 2323 of the free trial version of Acronis True Image 9.0 then please make a screen shots of your consequent steps taken during the installation process.

    Please also do the following:

    - Launch the product installation file;
    - Right-click on the "Install Acronis True Image" button and select "Extract";
    - Select the path for extracting the component and click "Save";
    - Go to the Run prompt (Start -> Run) and issue the following command:
    msiexec /i msi-name /l*v log-name

    Where msi-name is the name of the file you extracted in steps 2-3 and log-name is the path and the name to the log file you want to save the output to;

    - Reproduce the problem and collect the log file created during the installation.

    Please submit a request for technical support. Attach the collected screen shots and log file to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Please note that this is not the free trial version limitation as well.

    If the problem still persists with the latest build (2323) of the free trial version of Acronis True Image 9.0 then please collect the following information:

    - Create Acronis Report and Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post;

    - Are you trying to restore individual files from the disk\partition image or from the file-based backup?

    - Are you trying to restore these files to their original location?

    - What are the exact sizes and filenames of the files you are trying to restore?

    - Where do you store your image?

    - Have you received any error messages? What exact error messages? When exactly have you received them?

    - Describe actions taken before the problem appears step-by-step.

    Please submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.

    Installation of build 2323 of the demo version did not offer any options for the items I listed above.

    In another thread, I reported the disasterous effects I encountered of trying a restore with demo 2323.

    I'm waiting for the next demo release to try things again.
