    Brand new Winodws 2003 server. Nothing on it. Installed latest build of TIS 8.0.

    Upon starting the software, the program freezes on 'scanning partitions'.
    Next the entire windows GUI hangs.
    Next the machine reboots itself.

    When the machine is back, One of the 2 SATA HDD is corrupted,
    and the Raid set is broken.

    I can't even uninstall Acronis, as when I try it from add/remove programs,
    it 'scans partitions' thus destroying my hard drive & raid set.

    This is ridiculous. The software is supposed to recover my system,
    not totally destroy it.

  2. Hi, kevincann

    From what you say you must have Raid1. Mirrored [still able boot]

    You should be able to repair it through your BIOS.

    If you are using Raid1, try to repair it first.

    Then see how you go.

    Take Care,
    TheQuest :cool:

    Hello kevincann,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software for Server.

    Please do the following in order to enable mini-dumps.

    - Open Computer properties either by right clicking on My Computer icon and choosing Properties or by opening System properties in Control Panel;
    - Go to Advanced tab;
    - Press Startup and Recover Settings button;
    - Choose Small memory dump in Write debugging information box;
    - Close all the dialog windows by clicking OK buttons.

    Then please reproduce the system crash and send the mini-dumps created to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread. This will allow us to investigate the problem thoroughly.

    Thank you.

    Ok,

    Now I'm flaming mad.

    I got a reply from Acronis support. They said to run AcronisReport
    and send them the results.

    Well guess what acronis report does? It scans the partitions.

    So... there went my raid array again. There went the 2nd hard drive
    (in teh mirror set). There goes another 2 hours of my life to rebuild
    the server.

    Now why on earth would I want to blow up my server again, by running
    acronis?

    Hi Kevin - if you haven't given up on TIS by now, you should be able to save yourself some time if you had a 3rd harddisk. Once you have rebuilt the array, can you not replace one of the 2 mirrored disk with the 3rd disk, and allow the system to rebuild the mirror? After the next scan - and broken mirror :( - swap the good disk back in, and let the system rebuild the mirror from that?

    Or am I speaking completely nonsense here??
