definition

    I am using the backup program that came with Windows xp and in 'my computers' one of the things i can backup is called system state. What is that?

    Sorry if I sound dumb, but does that mean that if my computer crashes and I have this 'state' backed up that it will put my system back the way it was? Also, if I backup my programs, will the specific settings be saved as well.ie all me addresses and emails in outlook express? Thanks for our time.
