I have a friend who has installed this software and he keeps getting alerts about Helkern. He has asked me about it he say's it's annoying.I'm abit worried about this because he does online banking!Does anyone know how to stop this?Is there free programs that will do the job just as well?He only has the antivirus and the firewall part installed.Perhaps someone here has had the same problem.Any advice would be appreciated.:(

Defender Pro is based on the Kaspersky Anti-Virus engine. Just run a full system scan with Defender Pro and it should be able to get rid of this malware for you.

Additionally, you can look up more info on this particular piece of malware at the following links:

You can use the instructions in the above link to perform a generic cleaning of your friend's computer. :)

Additionally, I have found another article about this Helkern. I think it may be of use for you:

Remember that Defender Pro AntiVirus and Firewall use Kaspersky engine.

:thumb: Apparently these attacks were being blocked, but it was just he needed to shut those alerts off.It appears that this little almost invisible worm is hard to detect.Has anybody found the files that belong to this?It must be a Kaspersky thing because he said his Norton 2006 Security didn't mention anything of this.

You see, these Helkern attacks are reported by the intrusion detection system of Defender Pro (which is just Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 renamed as Defender Pro). If you have a good firewall running alongside your AntiVirus (I believe Defender Pro 5 in 1 also has a firewall included), then you will be protected from such intrusions anyway.

In order to avoid conflicts, it is recommended to disable the Intrusion detection system of KAV if you also have a good firewall. But since Defender Pro's firewall is also a renamed Kaspersky, I suppose that there should not be any conflicts at all. :)

    For further information, see this:

The alert basically says that someone tried to infect your computer with this and failed. :)
