Not that it really affects me in any real way , but, big bust up at Debian ... Too many articles to reference but here's a starter: http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20141124#news
I'll go right ahead and say that IMO this is stupid. Part of the whole point of systemd was to standardize on one common, halfway-decent way of doing things. So as soon as Debian adopts the standard... someone forks it to avoid the standard! Whee!
I wouldn't call anyone stupid because they forked a distro... This happens all the time (from a large variety of reasons) and the passing of time will tell if the fork is successful or not.
The people doing the fork are definitely not stupid. The idea of forking Debian, however, is (IMO) stupid. There is a difference.
One drama leads to another drama. As the saying goes, if you cannot agree on a standard, you fork. Here's the homepage of Devuan: https://devuan.org/ A long thread on reddit (discussing whether there's a real need for the fork): http://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/2nuhjb/one_of_the_individuals_behind_the_debian_fork/
