database not updating

Hi everyone, Im hoping someone can help me.

It seems as though ESS is not updating. Ive had it running for the past several days and it's still at 2169.

When i click 'update virus signature database now' it doesnt download anything. Update status is 'virus signatre database is outdated'. Protection status is 'recent update attempts failed'.

I have a standard adsl connection with no proxy settings. Using xp sp2.

Any help on this would be great.
