Data roaming fees to be slashed in half on 1 July

Mobile data roaming price caps will be slashed in two within Europe from 1 July, the European Commission has announced today (24 June, 2014).

The cap for downloads, which is currently set at 45 cents per megabyte, will be more than halved so that operators will not be able to charge more than 20 cents per megabyte (all prices before VAT).

The price of making phone calls and sending text messages will also be slashed. The cost of making a call has decreased by 21 percent from 24 cents per minute to 19 cents per minute and the cost of receiving a call has dropped nearly 29 percent from 7 cents per minute to 5 cents per minute. Sending a text now costs 8 cents instead of 6 cents.

That's nice to hear, been waiting it since they announced it in April. Using mobile on vacation won't cost so much anymore. After December 2015 roaming fees should be canceled.
