TheQuest, how many volts do you have going to your CPU to reach that speed? :)

I managed to find a way to get the gig of ram to PC3200 speeds in dual channel mode, I just have to make sure the timings are a bit relaxed, not super optimized. Both of my ram chips are slightly different you see, they aren't the same brand.

I have been to that Abit forum once or twice, seems interesting. :)

    Hi, Jason

Your the same as me I run mine Dual, but they are hand picked match pair [that what OCZ says anyway] Will try single channel when I tried this at near melt down.

Difference brands AND difference chips will both hold you back.

    Best of luck.

First post for benchmark on CS 1.070... (i had a silly AMD K6-2 450 before)

    --------------[Benchmark finished]--------------
    CPU Frequency: 2009MHz (+/- 5mhz)
    RAM Installed: 511MB
    Total time taken: 18938ms
Average time for each test: 2705ms

    Your computer scored: 26401 CRYPTOMARKS!
    ------------------------------------------------

Is that a good score for a 2000mhz pc?

By the score I can tell thats an Athlon XP you have there. :)

An Intel 2Ghz machine would be much lower.

It seems to be around the mark your score Rod, did you post your 450mhz benchmark? If not I would love to see it. :)

Yes its an XP athlon, so i didn't get a dud processor then.....I checked the advert...'Get an XP Athlon 2400'. When CS said 2000ghz, i nearly died..

Shame, I don't have the K6-2 450 anymore jason, sorry.

    Hi, Jason

As I mentioned I am using Bios nf7_d23 and also I have the latest SiliconImage Sata Raid 1.0.047. Also FlashMenu 1.33.

Just some info on Bios D23 [Which was up then withdrawn] if you use it and also use AbitEQ, it will knock out EQ, seem there is a bug in it but no other side effect on my Rig.

Hope this is of some help.
    TheQuest

Edit:- D23 back up at Abit.tw I am going download it now and re-flash with the new one [If understand what I mean] the one they have put back up.

Wish me luck as you know how funny the Bois can be[hehe ]

    Re:CryptoSuite Benchmark Results

Rod, AMD don't rate their XP processors with MHz, rather with their own rating (which people compare to a PENTIUM4 of the same speed).

For instance an XP 2400+ is comparible to a P4-2400Mhz. An XP 2400+ only runs at 2000MHz , however AMD chips have a higher IPC (instructions per clock) which means they can do more work per MHz than an Intel CPU, hence the rating.

Of course in some things (like pure Integer and Floating point not optimized for SSE2) the Athlon chips are a lot better than Intel clock for clock, the same way that Intel chips beat the Athlons by a bit more in certain things like memory bandwidth. So the rating is an overal rating.

Your XP 2400+ for instance is very close to the Pentium 4 2.8GHz with HyperThreading I use for developing, within 500 cryptomarks. Even though the Intel CPU I use has 800MHz more power.

TheQuest, I have heard some bad things about a few of those BIOS updates so I havn't been that willing to try any new ones yet. :)

    Hi, Jason

Yes I have heard the same, but I think most but NOT all is user error, I have flashed this Board 9 times with no trouble so far. But any flash can go wrong.

As the saying go's nothing venture nothing gained or something like that.

Just re-flashed with the nf7d23 no trouble, EQ still not working though.

    That Formula One :D

Ahh thats alright then, so the MHZ rating doesn't matter with the athlons, im glad CS told me that other than finding out elsewhere hehe

    Hi, Rod Soto

Is this humor I hear here.

The higher you push your clock the higher the Marks, But you might get BSOD or random reboot, or reboot with Blank Screen and you have to reset the Bios [CMOS] If you OC to much[Heart Stopper]Haaaaaa  ] then take the battery out for ten minutes and then reset] then you[hehehehe :D]

    They are MHZ's

Thats interesting, I've never been an overclocking person, but since this PC was purchased for me, it was done so under the condition I don't leave it open or do any overclocking....I accidently killed my last PC when it fried due to the 5cm thick dust built up over the motherboard......woops hehe

    TheQuest,

I managed to run the CryptoSuite test at 2400MHz, the score was 32486, I'll try later to beat your score and post the results I achieved. :)

Your 3200+ Barton would have an extra 256KB of cache, so I wonder how much of an effect that would have for this benchmark.

    Hi, Jason

Was it rocking hot, what HSC do you have and is the case open or shut and what is your PSU.

I have TL volcano9 80cm silent plus 4x80cm case fans, PSU has 2x80cm
    Closed case.

    Good luck with your score.

    Hi TheQuest,

Heatsink - SLK800 (half a kilogram of pure copper)
Fan - Volcano 9 variable speed 80MM fan (I think, can't remember exactly which heatsink I pulled it from) running at 5000RPM

Temps were 40C for the CPU and 30C for the system at that speed, at about 25C ambient temperature. PSU is just a 300Watt silent "JustCooler".

    Hi, Jason

Yes I forgot for a moment, where you live, [Australia=Hot]. But you are probably in an air condition office or house to help with your Temps.

See you have the same fan as me V9.

Should use Australian Gold better then copper :D :D

I don't think your PSU will keep the volts up though.

    Good Temps so for though.
    TheQuest

I mixed cm up with mm

The voltages are dead steady, which really surprised me too. It must be a pretty decent power supply.

Damn, that's low for my config I think >8(
I'll defrag and try again. I wonder what kind of difference we'll see.

The benchmark test after the defrag:

It still seems a little low.. correct me if I'm wrong.

That score seems about right for your computer Dardasaba. :)

It seems AMD/Athlon CPU's really excell in this benchmark and Intel CPU's score a little lower than the same rated speed Athlon.

Anything over 20,000 is a very good score.
