    i gave them a try a while back when i wanted to upgrade - the tool said - don't know - so in the end i took off the panel and checked the memory physically by looking at the label on the module.

    after i had installed the new memory i found sisoft sandra lite on one of my magazine cover disks and it is absolutely brilliant at telling you everything about your memory modules (mainboard info icon) including the type, speed and size of the module(s), manufacturer and date of manufacture and the number of modules installed.
