Every time I try to create a rescue disk I get this error "Error burning the bootable CD-R/CD-RW". My DVD drive is a Snoy DVD RW DRU-710A and I'm using Roxio Easy Media Creato 7.

My version of True Image is 8.0 build 800.

    Hello Carl,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please note that you need to use blank unformatted CD in order to create Acronis Bootable Rescue Media.

Could you please try to boot Windows in Safe mode (press F8 when Windows starts up and choose the "Safe" mode to boot into) and then create Acronis Bootable CD. If this doesn't help please try to disable Drag-to-Disk option in Roxio software and burn the CD after that.

    Thank you.

I have already done the things but I will try again. After reading these post I wonder if I chose the wrong backup software.

    Hi tronic592001,

Shouldn't make any difference. The bootable rescue CD can be written to a blank CD-R, CD-RW or CD+RW.

It's when creating images that Acronis don't recommend the use of DVD-R due to a possible compatabilty problem between TI and DVD-R media.

    Regards

    Hello Carl,

Are you running Easy Media Creator whilst trying to create the rescue CD? If so shut it down and see if it makes a difference.

Also, open My Computer, right click on your Sony burner and select "Properties". If you see a "Recording" tab, select this and ensure that "Enable CD recording on this drive" is not ticked.

    Regards
