I really get a kick out of the CPU - RAM usage people always complaining.
BUT yet I am sure they are the first ones to play online game and go to sex sites. They complain over and over again, NOT giving one thought to what kind of evil actually lurks out there these days.
They bich about the best AV's on the market today.
Why don't they just go away and not use any protection at all?
    Well becaue they are greedy.
You need some strong guns in this day and age to fight rootkits.
The not so many years ago thang that was only POS.
Just as is Hypervisor thangs today.
When will people actually wake up?

Memory usage is debatable, but if the AV uses up your CPU, it can make the rest of your system less responsive.

That's been an age old issue not easily avoided but in some AV's at least, improvements to impact on performance is better now then before. Still others drag down a PC and especially if an older model and even on newer ones.

This is the single mystifying factor i couldn't avoid, the problem was trying to find the one version that wouldn't press the hardest. Then came HIPS, and my wishes were answered.

I understand that the very make up of quality AV's by virtue of what they MUST do in filtering/comparing/terminating etc. draws a lot of cycles, and though that area is improved over the years, it's by no means resolved nor likely ever will be IMO.

If an AV makes my system slow in any way, I remove it instantly.
Call me greedy, I don't give a flying hoot.
