    Hi,
I recently shrinked my partition to extend another, as usually this will make the partitions to dynamic (if they were basic), I don't want to wipe my data and avoided the ''traditional'' way to convert back to basic (delete volume then convert) so I tried with some 3rd party software like "Easeus Partition master", "Convert dynamic to basic (the demo version)" but in vain, I can't convert them that way (either the convert option is gone or can't click proceed in the programs).
    Here is an example: http://pokit.org/get/?f344c816acfc3da5f08f950bdbdab35c.jpg
I searched the web and found the Hex-editor way to convert back to basic without loosing the data but there is 1 problem: http://pokit.org/get/?c9e2c1f26c03cac3d250ac13c0e7a8c7.jpg
As you can see above (click link) at sector 0 location 1C2 it's not 42 as it should be but 4F and I don't know why, can I still change the value to 07?
    thanks

    alynos,

That should never happen. What software are you using?

By the way, you are editing the wrong sector. You are editing the partition boot sector instead of the master boot record sector.

    Here is a screenshot > http://pokit.org/get/?51f71c92e01c94b8c9e4cc88481360c3.jpg
The B-partition was E (changed letter) The strange fact is that after I extended E it resulted in 2 disks (E-196GB with this size I extended E, and the other E-535gb), I tried to merge volumes but The option is off, doesn't matter what 3rd party software I use (tried 3 different programs)The merge or convert options are not there. Also where should I look for the master boot record sector?
The programs that I used: EaseUS partition master / Partition magic / Aomei dynamic disk converter

I have never heard of a basic disc becoming a dynamic disc with partition manipulation. I've manipulated thousands of partitions without an issue and I have no idea what is going wrong with your system.

I've tried to contact MarkyMoo about his tutorial but he's out of touch. The tutorial method doesn't work on multi partition hard drives.

Edit... The MBR sector is LBA-0.

Thank you Brian, I will wait and still search for answer till Friday, If I can't find any solutions to convert back to basic without loosing my data, in the weeknd when I'm free I will delete the volumes and create them again, this way the problem will get fixed but sadly, my collection of 500gb Games wiped :(.
If you think of something else let me know, I really don't want to solve this problem by deleting the volumes ^_^''.
    Thanks again.

Is this the correct line? > http://pokit.org/get/?3f75b44b75a15b938fc78b67d8b265ee.jpg
I opened disk 1 wich I hope is my HDD not the SSD because in disk management it's noted with disk 0 and 1, and in partition master with 1 and 2. I opened disk 2 to be sure and it shows this > http://pokit.org/get/?c2a98e1853eedd9cfdb585d7371dd82c.jpg
SO I suppose disk 1 wich has 42 on that line is my hdd, please leave a reply if it's the correct path or not, I don't want to have more problems.
I will be off 8-10 hours due to my work, when I get back I will do the hex editing if you give me the green light ^_^.

    alynos,

The first jpeg is your big HD. The second jpeg is your SSD, 175836528 sectors.

I'd copy all your data to an external HD before you make any changes to the big HD. Please let us know what happens.
