    Millions of consumers are switching banks and avoiding online shopping out of fear of having their personal data stolen by crooks and used in fraudulent activities, a research firm said Thursday.

    Sad thing is most of the crap going on with the data getting out has nothing to do with the Internet! You are much more likely to be the victim of identity thieves just using credit cards in the real world. It's stupid companies like ChoicePoint that kept their data in an insecure fashion on their computers. It was all data gathered from real world sources and NOT the net!

    But the info was accessable from the net though.

    True but most people don't even use a firewall or a AV, they just put their info online and someone or something steals it, trojan programs are found on most home computers correct? So I assume with some Internet Security most people can possibly aviod this.
