I own a copy of True Image Workstation 9.1, which is not yet compatible with Windows Vista. After I booted from the rescue media and started the wizard to back up my system partition, I received several error messages indicating "Failed to read from the sector...".

I rebooted into windows and completed a sector by sector scan of this drive, but no bad sectors were found.

It then occurred to me that it could be due to changes in the NTFS file system, but I received the same errors when booting from the rescue media of the True Image Home 10.0 Trial that I downloaded.

Is this a known issue or should I further investigate my hard drive? What utility would you recommend?

    Regards,

    Dalton

Try creating the partition with Windows XP. During Windows Vista Installation, DO NOT delete the partition. Format it only.

By doing this, it is ok with TI 10 Home.

OK, I'll try that. It's looking like I'm going to have to dual-boot anyway.

    Question, though.

To your knowledge, does Vista introduce changes to how partitions are laid out and configured, AS WELL AS changes in the NTSF file system?
