Yesterday I had a PC with Prevx that during a full scan (Prevx at default settings) indicated an infection pointing to Microsoft Silverlight.
An hour earlier, Windows Update downloaded and installed a new version of Silverlight.

My gut tells me - just a new file Prevx had not had time to learn - new to the cloud. However I ignored the threat. And as others have stated, in the past, there have been times when if I tell Prevx to ignore an "infected file" Prevx will not detect thge file as infected in future scans whether its an FP or actually infected.

So my concern is that if it is infected Prevx might be ignoring it?

Joe, TH, anyone who might have seen something similar with Silverlight yesterday - feedback appreciated...

Seeking confidence in product and peace of mind lol...

The same thing happened to me yesterday also. I just removed Silverlight and reinstalled it later on. Prevx hasn't picked it up yet since I reinstalled it though.

If it is still being detected please send a scan log as advised! I'm not getting any detection at all!

    TIA,

I saw the same thing, not getting it anymore either, maybe an FP quickly fixed.

I'm just saying that's it's funny as I had Prevx enabled during the install of the update and I didn't get any warning

Same here. the silverlight update installed without any alert from Prevx real time protection.
It was only when I soon after ran a Full Scan (on demand) that the alert popped up.

Its gone and hasnt come back after two reboots and and subsequent full scans

    On a related note:
In going throu all this I found that siulverlight doesnt update and clean up after itself very well.
Any of you use Secunia PSI? Great program.
Secunia flagged that my Silverlight was not fully up to date. SO I went digging in WIndows Explorer and the registry.
Sure enough - there were folders, files, and registry entries for Silverlight v2 and v3 as well as the latest v4.

Thanks to Revo Uninstaller, I was able to fully uninstall Silverlight and all its older version remnants, then reinstalled the latest Silverlight.

Now Secunia and Prevx are happy.

Props to Prevx, Secunia, and Revo!
