Hello all. I've see the comparatives between antivirus programs of this site:

    http://www.av-comparatives.org/

and I think it's very good. But I'm searching a site that compares also free antivirus programs. Can you link me one?

avast, avira and kaspersky (AVS) all have free versions which should be the same detection rates as the paid-for versions, for comparision on those tests.

I am looking for a free AV that runs live with definition updates. I need it for my daughter's computer. Can you recommend one and possibly provide a url? Thanks in advance.:)

active virus shield also uses the same databases as the paid kav 6.
avira, no adware/spyware detection in the classic/free version.

Because you said the free version of Avira has the same detection capabilities as the paid version.

if you exclude adware/spyware, the detection capabilities are the same.

but the original poster was mentioning av-comparatives, so the detection rates would be the same.

only difference would be spyware/adware detection.

so, again.. why am i wrong VLK?

If I many interject, it was likely a simple misunderstanding, as you didn't clarify that Avira lacked adware/spyware detection in your initial post. How is VLK or anyone else supposed to know what you meant without it being stated clearly.

nah, i think he thought i mentioned AVG in the original reply, without noticing that i left that one out, which is why he linked to a page with IBK stating AVG free isnt the same detection as the paid.

    either way, dont matter :)
