Thanks for the good test. I did a quick test too but could only reach a final result by ignoring some alerts by either Threatfire or OA free. I would consider it a 340/340. Every little test is caught and prompted.

    thanks djohn for the result

i used in the test windows xp sp3 un patched with nothing just a fresh
install after installing windows in vm i made a snap shot and
so i install the software test it then revert to that snap shot
anyway i choose this test setup so all the work relay on the security software

i tried some on windows 7 x64 but in it the windows is immune to rootkit by default so it won't be fair nor an accurate result

anyway for defense wall the diffrence in that results was because i tried the normal version with windows firewall
the result changed when i used the version with the firewall

anyway i'm doing more testing gonna add the results soon
one of them is J's favorit secureanyware :D

Defensewall gets 4.5 stars in my book 330/340 It was just vulnerable to a filedroper.:thumb:

If this assessment of that particular part of this test is correct.........

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1961187&postcount=15

Then I would say it is also a pass from DefenseWall. (or at least a partial pass)
(I seem to remember Ilya saying something to this effect in the past)

I just see nothing harmless in putting a new file into the system32 folder.

Sandboxie tests for some of these tests are kinda weak due to the file being in a sandbox so they can do lots of changes but none of them get out of the virtual environment :)

FWIW: XP SP3 patched, not VM:
    For the Lulz:
    Simultaneous:
    Prevx 2.0 ( On Expert defaults 90/340 )
    + Prevx 3 ( nada afaics)
    + NIS ( nada afaics )
    = Epic fail ??

    Is it really relevant?
Some of these maybe dont actually do anything ??

Just wondering (..exposing ignorance...) these are old tests, known about, hashed, named, not actually doing anything ??, and at risk of appearing a tool, unless like OA/DW there is a very specific watch and a lot of user interaction, are the security apps just ignoring on heuristic basis ??

Nevertheless nice to know OA & DW can rock the .dll.
( have OA on tinlids boxen ;) )
    Heh.

Totally agree, however DW is not _x64 compatible yet, i hope it will in the near future caused it's seems to be a really strong security protection application (nothing missed in all MRG tests).

MY only two complaints about DW, no 64 bit and browser is slow to open at least with IE.IMO when its ready for 64 bit I bet the protection will be equal to 32bit.

Somewhat true but remember, lots of the programs listed would not even work in these situations since it's a HIPS test.
Ex. Chrome, AdMuncher, KeyScrambler, Trustport AV they all do NOTHING.

The ones doing the heavy lift are Private Firewall and SpyShelter :thumb: :D

Anyway this was long ago and this is what I recall from e-mails with Ilya.

Only the first closed beta release of 3.0 scored 310/340. I had to argue a lot with Ilya to convince him to add two more. Because CLT contains some tests which are irrelevant for DW (first step is allowed, second step of intrusion will be blocked). Only file drop of CLT is not covered on purpose with DefenseWall, since the introduction of DW 3.0 it scored 330/340.

Make sure that all kind of sanboxing (especially with comodo) is deactivated. Else Clt.exe will run half of their files in the sandbox and belives that some of its tests are able to bypass comodo.

before disabling sandbox in comodo: 190/340
    after: 340/340
