COMODO Internet Security/Antivirus/Firewall 8.0.0.4337 is released

    What do you mean by you're not into trusted vendors? If a white list is not used then everything has to be permitted individually which means lots of pop-ups.

    Regarding your high standards is there another HIPS that you think works better?

    It's a matter of preference, I don't trust the "trusted vendors" feature, because nowadays malware can hijack certificates and sign themselves. I like to make rules for trusted apps myself. And you should only see alerts when installing/running new apps. About your second question, I'm not a fan of it because of several reasons, but I still prefer SpyShelter to Comodo.

    Going through the thread I can't figure out if the AV engine is the new one or not...

    They use their own AV engine that is now "optimized".

    This is from the first post (from one of the developers).
    So is it a new engine or a "new" engine?

    I won't even bother to ask at their forums, only to read the usual diatribes.
