Perhaps my view is biased, and anyone is of course welcome to jump in and contradict my statement, but I think that Comodo's detection rate is fine. The false positive rate may be a little high, although only for relatively unknown applications, but other than that I believe it's good.

That said, it hasn't really been tested extensively, and I do acknowledge that there are certainly vendors out there with higher detection rates of real world malware (Kaspersky comes to mind), but I would think that it's fine. I've been on MDL lately and it's actually been performing pretty well. That said, the fact they haven't been tested extensively is a bit of a problem. A topic on the Comodo forum which provides links to tests of CIS can be found here.

Ok, I've said it. Now everyone can jump in and provide their opinions.:D

As to whether to use a straight AV or a Suite, you can answer this for yourself: Are you concerned about Zero day malware? Although the term zero-day is thrown around quite a bit, it seems very few know exactly what it means. A true zero-day piece of malware is a trojan. virus, etc that has been just released for which no definition to stop it has yet been written. So (fill in your favorite AV here) cannot possibly help you. For maximum protection you will need something other than an AV.

And as far as comparing AV product A vs AV Product B is concerned, earlier last week a password stealer was released (svflooje). Currently one of the highly rated and most popular products still blissfully ignores it while some products often trashed will detected and deleted it by the 3rd day post release.

the power of CIS is not to detect a malware when it is in your system (even if it can do) but to prevent it to enter.

Pics don't really show much at this point, but I look forward to when they do show the main GUI. I hope they are not going back to that red & black theme.

Possible that it will mirror CCE's GUI.
There was talk of making all their products with a uniform UI.

I don't like the look of that virtual Kiosk, it makes the desktop look like a smart phone ffs.

is it normal when you install CIS and run a full scan to have it use alot of CPU until it done scanning? does it build a cache of safe and good file?

Yes, it's normal for CAV to completely hog all of the CPU during a scan. Don't know about the cache question.

The main reason I ditched the AV part of CIS. It never got to finish the initial scanning. Like taking forever. CPU usage was 100% My pc was stuck.

CIS 5.10 caches things only till system shutdown, and it will rebuild it again the next boot. So this I don't like about it. Perhaps this will change in the next version.

yeah i dont like the cache and loose it at reboot. and the high cpu usage sucks.

really makes me wonder why do many comodo ppl use it. I mean i do like it but dont like those two things

cloud and rootkit scanning causes scans to be much more longer.
