Will it hurt to just leave ThreatFire on my system?

Comodo's HIPS will not be so anoying when the final is released. They are building up the safelist throughout the betas and as more and more features are enabled the safelist will get bigger and bigger. By October - December the final 'should' be complete and people should not be seeing very many pop-ups.

Thanks for including this. I appreciate it. That test is a bit dated, however. Isn't there anything newer in the world of termination-protection reports ??

Yeah and super annoying too. It took me half an hour to click thorugh countless number of popups and at some point everything just locked up in its own infinite loop. Yey. Firewall should be just firewall, not some stupid HIPS.
I'm not using Comodo anymore just because of this.

Thought there was a "disable" option for the Defense+ HIPs??

Yeah there is. But you first have to get through those bilion of popups and possible lockup loop before you can do that.

Last time i tried it, i scanned all files, and had virtually no problems. Then set to learn known good and got few pop-ups.

BUT, i really want it to be an option on install, not turn on/off. I've expressed my opinion to them, where it matters, as i always regard them as open minded in these things.
Stem actually posted a thread there for that (to make it modular), and others agreed too. Egemen said he will look into it. That's what matters to me, until final version comes.

Just posting proof. I don't know any other firewall with learning mode except comodo and norton's. The other firewalls closest to this mode is in disabled :D. You can easily adjust the same settings in the pic shown with a right click to the tray. The Defence+ also has the same modes.

This HIPS sounds like the now discontinued Black Ice. Scan your computer to white list every program and after that only what is on the list gets to run. I think that system only works in theory, not practice. Besides, Black Ice was never widely accepted.

Actually no. It whitelists programs after scanning and asks you basically how a firewall would. If you want it accepted or not. It's like having system safety monitor/prosecurity for free.

but does it affect brosing speed? I uninstalled to do a clean install, but did some surfing before the clean-install (have router) and noticed browser loading much quicker. After re-installing, the slow-down was back, so I decided to wait until version 3 comes out of beta...

They fixed many issues that were in 2.4

I never noticed a slowdown. I also have a router.

Has anyone started to predict when to expect the final release yet?
