I am having such good luck with CIS 5.10, I'm really in no hurry for 6. I hope it can top it's predecessor.

It's been a while since last i used Comodo, does this version intercept dlls or does it include an anti-executable like OA?

To be fair... this thing includes everything! :D

Just take a look at this:
    http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-install-comodo-firewall.htm

It includes a pretty decent setup for CIS.

You can also set it up to work as a exe blocker in D+ config -> Treat unrecognized files as 'blocked'.

I can honestly say this is probably the best security tool out there. I'm a big fan of security software, and Comodo so far as beat them all.
Sure, maybe it doesn't have the detection rate of Emsisoft's AntiMalware, but it actually goes further with a HIPS and firewall protection top notch, and it's AV has improves alot as well. It's actually pretty decent.

The only security tool you'll ever need :argh:
(ok, maybe an ad blocker and peerblock)

    Re: Comodo 6 screenshots. how's that ?!

    Time out!

I think if Comodo do a really good job with version 6, it will indeed be a very effective product for those who choose to use it. However, as always, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, not in the pretty GUI pictures and music videos of 'Bollywood-dancing' icons.

I don't have a problem with anyone else "expressing his opinion" (and IMO it doesn't look like Narxis does here either). I just don't understand this statement,
"this next version will crush the paid suites that make you pay for the same features".

Well I do understand its literal meaning - rows of squashed Trend Micro, Kaspersky, Norton, etc, cartons on the shelves of my local store - but I've (wisely I believe) discounted that, which still leaves me struggling to interpret the figurative.

    I need more information.
Which "paid suites" are we talking here and In what sense will Comodo "crush" them?
Apart from scams of course, which vendors are forcing people to pay for their security software, and what are their methods?

'Crushing' in the sense of outperform.
    It's just slang. Chillax

    I am chilled, and thanks,
    It's a sporting metaphor, re-metaphorically applied to software. (I think that's why I didn't get it.)
    Q1 partly answered.

Classical HIPS like OA and Comodo have always intercepted DLL's and EXE's. :D

What is the ETA for this? I think I might use it instead of Avast! Between it's Virtual Kiosk and AppGuard, I doubt anything could infect me. I use to shy away from Comodo products because of the certificate fiasco, but I think they can be trusted still.

Comodo has never been a classical anti-executable for one, and CIS v5 has no control over dll execution; https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=284188

CIS v5 has control over dll execution.

You can check this one by executing the "Sinowal Mebroot"

1.D+ can block "a dll file is executed by another process"

2.D+ can not block "a dll file is loaded to the memory of other processes" for new version of CIS.

So, CIS can not block this type of malwares.

A new method for DLL authentication is being introduced in v6.

    i beg to differ,
what about programs like returnil, wondershare time freeze and toolwiz.
These programs have "virtualised " systems for years.
Not such a big bomb after all then.?o_O

These softwares work in a different way.
If I'm not wrong I think that Virtual Kiosk it's like a mini linux OS virtualized (I'm going to ask in Comodo Forums). I think that panda safe browser works in the same way.

Yes it will be like a mini Linux OS. That's going to be interesting to see. it seems more and more security companies are going to put Virtual enviroments into their products.

I'm looking forward to the 6.0 of FW/+D I must say.

Beta will be released in a few days, Yes, you heard correctly...a few days

More than likely moderators will be privileged first

Expect the official release in October, possibly the end of this year if they run into problems. But, October is the ideal month for official release.

I agree. Does the enthusiasm for SandboxIE, Returnil, etc, held by enthusiasts like us, and often expressed in this very forum, translate into widespread use and appreciation of such measures by so-called 'average users'? Dare I say, No.

Welcome CIS 'Virtual Kiosk'. Assuming for now that you are going to work really well, will you become a big deal in the AV industry, or be just another under-appreciated curiosity for most people?

There's a 'catch 22' that comes with any method that, in the course of delivering a more secure experience for the Windows user, makes that user experience less Windows-like.

I've seen this with avast! 'SafeZone'. I use it often myself and appreciate its security benefits. However, if my customers are telling me the truth, generally they're not using it. "It's too different to my normal Desktop.", they say. Thus, it's used by me and others about whom it could be argued least need the extra protection it provides, while the people for whom it would be most beneficial are most likely reluctant to make use of it.

Highly knowledgeable and competent PC users may be well and comfortably able to mix & match, configure & customize, their security apps; to switch easily between Windows, Linux, Mac, SafeZone & Virtual Kiosk interfaces; even do away with traditional AV and rely solely on HIPS (and of course their wits).
I strongly suspect however, that for the foreseeable future, the hypothetical but statistically significant 'average user' will continue to seek the comfort and reassurance of an AV security solution with the the most minimal of learning-curves, making little or no demand on their time and concentration.
