It does not show up in recent AV-C tests. When it did it was not a top performer, although some made excuses for its poor showing.

Hopefully this acquisition gives them the resources they probably need to compete with others on a contemporary basis.

I would not hold my breath for a new Home version appearing soon.

Remember how long it took for version 4 to appear and Commtouch are more Enterprise-based with their Internet security technology and cloud-based services.

I sent an email to F-Prot support abaut F-Prot 7. I obtained this response. :'(

"Unfortunately we do not have concrete information from our developers regarding future versions of F-PROT at the moment."

Forget F-Prot, it has been a dead project for years. Slow development backed up with buggy mediocre interface and subpar scan engine, why even bother when there are so many far better options?

RejZoR - What products would you recommend? I always liked F-prot for being silent, and for not eating up my system's resources. If we are going to move our company off of F-prot to something else, we would hope "something else" can also be effective, but also silent and small.

Can you recommend a suitable replacement?
    Many thanks,
    Dave

For a company, I would recommend you to take a look at FireAMP from sourcefire.

Siketa and Pedersen - Thanks for the leads. I requested a quote from each.

We're a tiny company of 4.5 people, looking to protect about 15 computers. Hopefully pricing will be comparable to what we pay for F-prot, but it's worth paying a bit more for software that's still being developed.

    Cheers,
    Dave

You can try any of the products that are commonly discussed here. Personally I'd give AVG a look.
